SUCCESS STORY: Organizational Capacity Strengthening for Locally-led Development
Since its creation, Ayiti Nexus’ managing consultants have understood the importance of establishing strong foundations, particularly their financial and operational systems to guarantee the firm’s sustainability. Commitment to its institutional strengthening has already born fruit: since joining Konbit, Ayiti Nexus has substantially increased its portfolio, having been awarded a 1.2 million dollar USAID project as a first-time prime implementer.

Ayiti Mizik pour une cartographie de l’industrie haïtienne de musique
Ayiti Nexus est en train de piloter une enquête visant à cartographier l’industrie haïtienne de musique. Ce projet est une initiative de Ayiti Mizik et a pour objectif principal de structurer, promouvoir, protéger et faire prospérer la musique haitienne. Cette enquête sera menée non seulement dans six départements du pays (l’Ouest, le Sud, le Sud-Est, le Nord, l’Artibonite et le Centre) mais aussi auprès de la diaspora.

Les opérateurs touristiques débattent la problématique des déchets
Ayiti Nexus a pris part le 30 juin 2016 à la première conférence-débat sur l’environnement organisée par l’Association Touristique Haïtienne (ATH). Le thème retenu pour cette conférence était : « Tourisme et Environnement : pour une gestion responsable ». Les échangent ont surtout cerné le sous-thème suivant : « La problématique des déchets : comment s’engager ». Ayiti Nexus a eu le privilège d’exposer sur l’impact des déchets sur l’industrie hôtelière.

USAID: 5 millions de dollars pour renforcer les organisations en Haïti
Ce projet attribué à Papyrys SA et ses trois partenaires, Ayiti Nexus, Steve Kroll and Associates et Tetra Tech dans le cadre du programme « Solutions locales » de l’USAID, vise à augmenter le nombre de partenaires locaux de développement qui influencent et obtiennent des résultats de développement significatifs et durables en Haïti, qui sont responsables devant leurs constituants, et qui sont en mesure de concurrencer et gérer les ressources de manière efficace, explique le Chef de projet.

Others may choose to share their discovery in such a way to preserve their treasure for the benefit of all. The latter is what two Haitian women chose after coming across photographer Nick Hobgood’s lively images of the marine life in Haiti which he took while diving off the country’s northern coastline from 2007-2010.

Reef Check Foundation has been working in Haiti to help recover coral reefs and to restore healthy fish & marine invertebrate populations. The consulting firm Ayiti Nexus recently published a lovely coffeetable book on the reefs of Northern Haiti. Since Force-E is a big supporter of Reef Check, the book’s coauthor, Nathalie Brunet, visited our Force-E Pompano location to give a presentation on the situation of the reefs in Haiti on April 11, 2013.

DAI Environmental Specialist Publishes Photo Book for Charity
While working as a regional advisor on a DAI project in Northern Haiti, Nick Hobgood spent much of his personal time scuba diving and taking photos of the marine species he saw along the coast. The photos he collected from 2007 to 2010 have been published in a coffee table book called “Haiti From Below.” Proceeds from sales of the first 250 books go to Reef Check Foundation to support EcoDiver training on the north coast of Haiti.

Haiti from below », « Haïti vu d’en bas » est le titre du premier livre sur les fonds marins haïtiens sorti en librairie depuis seulement deux semaines. A l’initiative de Nick Hopgood, photographe, et Nathalie Brunet, copropriétaire de Haïti Nexus, rejoints par la Reef Check – une fondation internationale ayant pour but de préserver les récifs coralliens -, les baies de l’Acul, de Caracol et de Cormier sur les côtes nord du pays ont fait l’objet de ce magnifique projet. Un nouveau regard sur Haïti qui change les perceptions.

Decades later, Nick hobgood, an American who had spent his teen years in Haiti when his father worker here with USAID would be inspired by Costeau’s discoveries, and pursue a career that included underwater photography.
